FC Bayern München

Hello everyone  :) Yesterday I was in München for the day. The atmosphere was incredible! We left Linz Saturday morning at 4:30 a.m. to head to Salzburg. From Salzburg we caught a train to München. We arrived there at 10:30 a.m. and the streets were already packed with Bayern fans (and a few Chelsea fans here and there). The first thing we did was head to Olympia park. It was huge. There were tons of stands, booths, bands and people are hanging out enjoying the beautiful weather. We walked through and then headed to the Olympia stadium. There was a free game between the world all-star legends and the Bayern all-star legends. Usain Bolt (the fastest man on the planet) did the kick off. After the game we walked down to the railing in the very front to watch the players get interviewed. Cafu (world famous Brazilian player) was throwing autographed soccer balls into the crowd. One went right behind me and one right in front of me and Cafu saw. He pointed at me and pointed to the railing above the entrance where the players enter and exit the field. I didnt know for sure if he was pointing and me or not and nor did the guy next to me so we both pushed our ways through the crowd and he saw me reaching my hand out from inside the crowd of people that wouldnt let me through. He handed it to me and everyone started grabbing for it. He took it back, shook his head no and pointed to me. Everyone turned around, looked at me and moved. He then reached his hand back out and gave me the ball. I WAS SO EXCITED! After that we went to BMW World. For those of you that know my future goals, I was ecstatic. It was so awesome and the cars were of course beautiful. After that we took the metro to the Allianz soccer stadium where the game was going to be played. We then headed into the city center. The streets were PACKED. There was broken bottles everywhere and so much trash on the streets. I cant believe the mess thats there today. Everyone was screaming Bayern and tons of other chants. After hanging out around the streets with all the fans we went back to Olympic park to find somewhere to watch the game. There were no big jumbo trons showing the game like we expected so we were walking out as we saw a bunch of people our age sitting on a hill. We asked them if they were going to show the game and they said yes and invited us. They gave us blankets and food and we all hung out. They projected the game onto one of their dorm buildings. It was fun sitting out with all the fans watching the game. Seeing them lose during the shoot out wasnt so fun but the experience was still awesome! Here are some pictures of the day :)

Prague

Hello Hello Hello :) So Mr. Kyle Fredericks has arrived in the good Ol' U S of A for those of you not following  his blog. His study abroad expirence is over. He arrived last night and of course all his friends and family were awaiting his arrival to celebrate. Im so glad hes home. It will be so much easier to communicate with him now :) So on to me... I just got back from Prague today. It was really a beautiful city. Our time there had its ups and downs but for the most part we had a great time. We took a free tour around the city and learned a lot. Im a CZECHspert now (like expert.... get it?) haha but really, I learned a lot about the history of the city and how it is recovering from being under a communist government along with many of its legends and myths. We walked a ton and saw so many beautiful buildings. They all have so many statues on them and lovely pieces of golden artwork. The Charles Bridge was by far my most favorite thing. Did you know its over 600 years old? Even though it took like 30 minutes to walk across because of all the tourists stopping to take pictures, looking at all the stands and so on, it was truly amazing. The view from the bridge is awesome. We also hiked up a small mountain/hill and from the top, you can see all of Prague. The castles and cathedrals rising up so high above all the other houses and buildings really gives Prague a distinct look. As always here are some pictures I'd like to share with you all.

One of the three towers left where they used to store amo and weapons during the war

The Astronomical Clock - Its a huge turist attraction but when it goes off every hour its very disappointing (but it was amazing to the people back when it was invented) so five years ago they decided to hire a trumpet player to stand at the top and play after the clock goes off. It helped lessen the tourists disappointment :)

Holy Tourists This is the enterance onto the Charles Bridge. Now you see why it takes so long to cross.

And of course whats a European city without a beautiful church?

Im sure youre just dying to know where Im off to this weekend? Any soccer fans following me? Im off to MUNCHEN for the Champion League game vs. Chelsea :) CANT WAIT! Have a great week :)

Innsbruck

Hello again :) So in my last post I was really trying to not saying anything about Innsbruck until my acutal Innsbruck post so here it goes. IT WAS AMAZING! It is totally my favorite city I have been to yet! Everywhere you look there are beautiful snow capped mountains and the view from everywhere is just breath taking! I left early Friday morning with three friends and rode a three hour long train ride there. After we arrived and checked into our hostel we began exploring. We went all through the innercity and up to the olympic park on the mountain. It was incredible. After that we stopped for dinner and at on the river. We then headed back to the hostel to get a good nights rest. Saturday morning we woke up at 6:30 a.m. with the intentions to go to Germany for the day to visit Schloss Neuschwanstein. Needless to say that didnt happen. We spent 3 hours at the train station getting sent all around trying to find the tour bus that went there. We eventually just bought actual train tickets to go to Fussen (the city near the castle) and missed our train. The man at the desk never told us we had to go to the platform that was going towards Munchen... how were we supposed to know? After we got our money refunded we had the idea to rent a car. We called and had one reserved only to find out that our one friend who has a European license left his license in Linz! Terrible luck, I know. We all decided it must be some sort of sign that we shouldnt go. We decided to go back and nap and cool off. We were all irritated. After we felt better we walked around again, took the train up to the top of one of the mountains, had lunch up there, took a horse and carriage around the city and just hung out. Later that night we went out for a few hours and that was it. This morning we walked around again, had lunch and then left. It was really a great trip and just walking around and hiking up the mountains was priceless. Here are tons of pictures because I cant pick only a few. Enjoy :)
